10 Top tips for Goal Setting – the Dru Way!

Yes! It’s that time of year again!

I must not eat chocolate… I will go to the gym every day…

As the New Year approaches, untold thousands of us will be writing down our goals and resolutions for the year ahead – but for many of us, these goals fizzle out after the fist few months… weeks… even days or hours! So in this blog I’m going to look at a few ideas of how to set realistic targets so that we can set our goals and actually feel really good about achieving them!

1. BE PASSIONATE  – There is absolutely no way that you will achieve your goal if it is just a vague inclination! Ensure that whatever you decide to do/ not do, is really important to you – and if necessary that you have the appropriate amount of ‘leverage’ in order to help you get there.

2. MAKE IT REALISTIC – Take time to really look at your goals and ensure that although challenging, they are going to be possible. Yes you can hope for a miracle – but if success is what you are after it is really important that your goals are achievable!

3. WRITE YOUR GOALS WELL – The right language is really important in goals setting because you are working with your subconscious mind. Using the the present tense “I am….”  rather than “I will” is really great as the future tense is only ever going to be happening in the future, therefore; non-manifestation! It is also said that our subconscious only hears the positive of the sentence… For example take; “I will not eat chocolate” Our subconscious hears… “eat chocolate…” huuummmmm…. chocolate…… (said with a Homer Simpson voice!)

Positive gratitude is also very powerful – its like saying thank you for your goal manifesting – this means in your mind that there isn’t a shadow of a doubt that it will actually come to pass. Use this formula for great goal setting!

“I am so happy and grateful that I am ___________

e.g. I am so happy and grateful that I am full of health and vitality. I am so happy and grateful that I am financially abundant and that I have £_____ per month coming into my bank account. I am so happy and grateful that I have all the spiritual knowledge I need to live a full and happy life.

4. HAVE A BUDDY – Set up a success strategy for helping you to keep your goals. One great way is to have a ‘buddy’ who can help you by checking how you are doing and helping you to establish small steps – and even reward when you have proven that you are on target!

5. MOVE THE GOAL POSTS – Don’t be afraid to move the goal posts if things get a bit too much – Its fine to re-evaluate the time frame you have set for yourself. If its unrealistic because circumstances have changed, that’s fine. It’s important to flow. The important thing to know is that you are NOT a failure!

6. FOCUS ONE ONE THING AT A TIME – If we try to re-vamp our lives in the fist two weeks of January we are potentially setting ourselves up for failure. Its important to pace ourselves and work towards our goals – all our goals – in an achievable time frame. That may mean that we choose one goal for January – achieve it – and then move on to February’s goal.

7. DO SOMETHING EVERY DAY – Do you want it? Do you really, really want it?!?!? Have you noticed that those people who are really passionate about something often talk about it? Somehow their conversations ALWAYS seem to come back to that one thing? The important key with this attitude is that it is the process of manifestation. By focusing on your goal, asking for ideas, explaining why it’s so good and why its important to you can create opportunities though our networks, friends and contacts that may help us achieve our goals.

Active participation on a constant and consistent basis brings your goal into reality.

8. SET A DATE – Have a realistic time frame in which you wish to achieve your goal. This helps to give you something to aim towards.

9. BABY STEPS – The best way to get results in something is set yourself for SUCCESS! This means making a few smaller goals within a smaller time frame rather than one big goal.

10. ENJOY IT! – This is one of the most important things we need in goal setting – it’s the process as well as the goal that should make you feel excited and happy. I’ve found that you’ll find and even greater sense of achievement if you dedicate your goal to someone or something or ensure that by helping you reach your goals you are also positively influencing others.

So there we are – 10 great tips for positive goal setting. As New Year’s is coming up in a few days – take a few minutes to really consider how you would like to be next year, what you would like to change about yourself and set your goals accordingly.

So enjoy! Have a great New Year!

Expectations, expectations!

What is it that determines our experiences?

Consider – you walk into a room and someone does something to annoy you. Imagine, the next time you walk into that room, the same person does the same thing to annoy you. Now – every time you walk into that room – guess what? You get annoyed! Why? What is it within us that is creating that reality?

There are many schools of thought that suggest that it is our expectations that seem to determine what we experience. Expectation or intention can be influenced by many things; from judgement and prior experiences to total belief or disbelief. The important factor is that we DO and ARE actively participating in designing our destiny in this moment by the process of our expectations.

One of my close friends recently said to me “living fully today creates your tomorrow”. The Indians call it Karma and in the west we often say; ‘what goes around comes around’. But in its basic form this is an understanding that; what we ‘put out’ into the universe, into the space around us, even as close as the thoughts we think – have to have a compounded effect…. Good things bring more good things. Bad things bring more of the bad things. Therefore it follows that if we want ‘good things’ or we want something specific… we should give of that thing or put our energy into that thing…

Phew! that can seem quite deep – but in truth – its not! Its simply a law of the universe. So this week – let’s give of ourselves that which we would like to receive – one word to the wise – the return effect may not be instantaneous!!! It may be a couple of hours, days, months or even years until the fruits of your actions come back to you.

And… next time we walk into that room – let’s choose to have a different expectation of what will happen there. Give out a different intention and we will be sure to experience something quite different!

I am so happy and grateful that…

We recently had our Dru Manchester Christmas party. For those of you know us at Dru – it’s not ever going to be your ‘normal’ office party! With yummy veggie food and cups of tea, followed by a balloon fight, yoga and meditation, it was a party with a difference…

What I really enjoyed was the feeling of coming together. There is, no doubt, a core essence of unity and peace that we are all striving towards, and it seems to become more obvious at this time of year. We have the privilege in our lives that we can  take time for the important things; to really acknowledge and work with what, and most importantly who, we value.

“I am so happy and grateful…” is said to be the best start to a sentence ever… Because when we can be not only happy but deeply grateful for everything we have we are truly living in a place of success! Gratitude opens the heart and fills us humility, courage and strength. Often these kind of emotions are seen as being ‘soft’ or ‘fluffy’, but in reality they are the essential building blocks of our lives.

This week why not start every day with the sentence: “I am so happy and grateful that…’ and fill in the blanks!!!

So here’s to positive affirmation and positive thinking this Christmas time! (And yes! You really do have enough time to do all the things you still need to do!)

“I am so happy and grateful I have enough time to do all the things that need to be done before Christmas in a totally relaxed way, for the benefit of all beings!”

Have a great few weeks! Anouschka and your Dru Manchester team.

Beyond the winter veil

And so the winter sets in…
It seems strange as I look at the dark sky’s rain laden clouds chasing one another across a bleak landscape… Surely there must be sun somewhere up there?!??!

Isn’t it amazing that we see only what is in front of us- we see the veil (the clouds)- but beyond that do we truly believe that there is something wondrous, beautiful and exciting? We choose only to see what we want to see; those things we have trained ourselves to see through our habits and judgements. However, all our perceptions are doing for us… is stopping us from perceiving ‘reality’.

I think it’s so important, especially at this time of year, that we look to what’s beyond that veil. Beyond our expectations. To truly see who we are. What we want. And most importantly, the truth that we can have anything we choose in our lives.

Today a friend reminded me that it’s our expectations that create our reality.  It is therefore our responsibility to take charge of our errant thoughts and bring them back to a place of purity and perspective. From here we can begin to see all that needs to be implemented for us stand in our true power and strength.
Today I invite you to change your perspective a little. See things from soneone else’s perspective. But stand strong in your own confidence. Be open enough to the world around you to know that whilst you and your core essence are indestructible – now is the perfect time to learn; to be humble.
